Your Choice

Joshua 24:15

Joy is a choice.  Knowing God’s will is a choice.  Finding the right job, the right life partner, or the right church is a choice.  Not deciding at all is a choice.

Letting life simply happen to you is not a wise choice!  Christian leaders and all Christians have confronted difficult choices all through history.  The Psalmist said in Psalm 119:30 (KJV), “I have CHOSEN the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.”

In Joshua 24:15, Joshua said, “Choose you this day whom ye will serve; -- - - As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Paul said in I Corinthians 2:2, “For I determined [a choice] not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” While in prison for preaching the gospel, Paul commanded, “Rejoice [a choice] in the Lord alway:” (Philippians 4:4).  Queen Esther had to decide to risk her life by revealing her Jewish identity and speaking up to save her people.  She chose wisely.  God blessed her and rescued her people from destruction.

As Christians, we are accountable to God for our choices.  Because God loves us and wants to give us the very best, He provides Biblical guidance for decisions.  James 1:5-6 states, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God. --- But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” When God gives you the answer, choose to obey His direction.  Obedience to God’s direction brings blessing.  Disobedience brings His chastening.

When confronted with a decision, pray.  Search the Scriptures for His direction and choose to obey.  Then enjoy His blessing in 2023!
